Did you hear?
The wonderful Arya's Mummy scored us a whole bunch of the New World Little Garden seedlings! Woo hoo!
Last week, we shared them out between the Junior School classes and still managed to have a whole heap left for us to plant so, on Friday, we invited our buddy class, Room 14 to help us.
The teachers didn't help us, we had to read the instructions with our buddies. We hope that they grow!
We still have some more that we will plant next week. Keep your eyes peeled if any of them have germinated when you get to school Tuesday.
Here are some pictures of us working with our buddies...
Welcome to Room 8's blog for 2017. We are an energetic Year 0/1 class and our teachers are Mrs Grant and Mrs Turner. We are looking forward to working together and learning lots of exciting and new things this year! Check our blog regularly to see what we have been up to. We would love to read your comments.

Mr Eco.
We were so lucky today to have MR ECO come to Sunnyhills School.
Wow, was he exciting. Even Mrs Grant had to get up to dance and sing!
He taught us lots of ways to help the environment... And we found out we can all do something to help. WE CAN ALL BE ECO HEROES!
Here are some things we can do to help.

Here are some things we can do to help.
- Say No to plastic straws!
- Re-use plastic bags... or even better use re-usable bags.
- Don't drop your plastic on the ground or in the sea.
- Pick up your rubbish. Don't be a litter bug!
- Try to use less water
- Watch what you put down the drain... it all goes to the sea!

New Wall Displays
If you haven't already, come in and have a look around at our walls to see products of our learning!
In Maths we have been learning about "positional language". All of us can now use words like up, down, beside, on, under etc. Some of us can even tell the difference between left and right! Test our knowledge out at home.
In this display we have drawn a picture of our bedrooms. Then we put Hairy Maclary in there somewhere. Can you tell what position Hairy Maclary is?
In this display we rounded up our learning about "How our actions effect the environment". Team 8 came up with many different ways we can help our Earth to stay healthy for many more years to come.
Our door is always open to friends and family so if you're in the area please feel free to come in and check out what we are doing and creating.

Buddha Temple.
Last week Team 8 went with the other Junior classes to visit the Buddhist temple.
The people there taught us about the 3G's and 4G's.
It was a beautiful calm place to visit. Team 8 loved making lotus flowers, making wishes on petals and most of all eating brownie!
We are such lucky children at Sunnyhills School.
A huge thank you to Maddie's mum, Ashton's mum, Tom's mum and Lachie's dad, who came and helped us out on the day! We couldn't have done it without you!
Check out the recording to see what the 3G's are!

A New Green Team Member
On Tuesday a Praying Mantis came to visit Team 8. We put him carefully in a container and watched him and talked about what he looked like. Some of us even wrote stories about him!

The Praying Mantis had long legs, big eyes out the front. He had wings too.
Team 8 decided that the Praying Mantis needed to go in his own environment. Team 8 talked about where would be a safe place for him to go. Here we are letting him go.
He liked his new home!

COME AND FIND ME...
Jumping Frogs
As you know Team 8 have been having some valuable learning experiences around our frogs/tadpoles. Yesterday our resident froglet decided that he would like a learning experience of his own.
We caught him reading a book!!!!
It wasn't just any book either, it was a book about tadpoles turning into frogs! perhaps he needed to learn about what to do next!
Have a talk with your children about this experience. See if they can tell you about the life-cycle of a frog. You could use these pictures from the book as a prompt.
